Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of favicon.tools (the "Service"), including the Generator, Converter and Checker tools and this website. By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.

1. What the Service is

favicon.tools provides free, browser-based tools for creating and inspecting favicons:

• Generator and Converter render and package icon files entirely within your browser. No image or file you provide to these tools is uploaded to our servers.
• Checker accepts a URL you provide and fetches that page's public HTML from our server in order to analyze and report on its declared icons.

The Service is provided free of charge. We may add, change or remove features at any time.

2. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the Checker to send automated, high-volume, or abusive traffic that could degrade the Service for other users.
• Use the Service to check, scrape, or process URLs you don't have the right to inspect, or in a way that violates another party's rights.
• Attempt to disrupt, reverse engineer for malicious purposes, or gain unauthorized access to the Service or its underlying infrastructure.
• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose.

We may restrict or block access for anyone who violates these terms or otherwise abuses the Service.

3. Your content and output

Any image, icon, emoji or text you provide to the Generator or Converter remains yours. We claim no ownership over it, and — because it's processed entirely in your browser — we never receive a copy of it in the first place. Files you export (favicon sets, ZIP archives, code snippets) are yours to use without attribution.

The Generator's icon search is powered by Iconify, which aggregates icons from many independent open-source icon sets. Each icon set carries its own license (commonly MIT or Apache, though this varies). You're responsible for confirming a specific icon's license is compatible with your intended use, particularly for commercial products.

4. Our content and branding

The favicon.tools name, design and website code (excluding third-party icon sets accessed through the Generator) belong to favicon.tools. You may not copy, resell, or represent the Service as your own.

5. No warranty

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We don't guarantee the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that generated files will be fit for every specific purpose. The Checker's grading and diagnostics are a best-effort technical assessment, not a guarantee of search engine behavior or ranking outcomes.

6. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, favicon.tools will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Service.

7. Third-party services

The Generator's icon search calls Iconify's public API directly from your browser. That request is between your browser and Iconify, and is subject to Iconify's own terms and practices, not ours.

8. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will update the "last updated" date above. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
